Didsbury makes light work for the Yorkshire Water Meter Readers

Didsbury Engineering, the leading provider of lifting and handling solutions recently solved a manual handling dilemma for Yorkshire Water.
As part of the Yorkshire Water meter reading programme, many manhole covers were proving problematic to remove and in certain cases two teams had to attend some problem covers to unsuccessfully try to lift the covers.
Didsbury engineers visited the exact locations of the manholes and assessed the problem covers. Using our standard universal cover lifter and standard keys (pictured below) the problematic manhole covers were lifted safely by one person in minutes.
Andy Clark, Yorkshire Water Metering Department Manager said “The Didsbury Universal manhole cover lifter has given us access to meters Yorkshire Water were previously unable to read”.
After a period of trials throughout Yorkshire Water the Didsbury Universal manhole cover lifter proved to be a successful tool and a number of units are now in the field.
