Product Safety & Compliance Engineer

Location: Didsbury Engineering, SK9 3LP, United Kingdom
Reports to: Engineering Manager

JOB PURPOSE:


To work closely with the engineering design team to ensure products, used for lifting and handling operations withing the civil aviation and defence sectors, are fully compliant with all relevant worldwide standards and directives, ensuring the highest level of safety for our customers.

 

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

· Ensure all products meet UKCA/CE marking requirements.

· Ensure all products meet relevant US safety standards.

· Produce and maintain technical files for our current product range.

· Identify hazards using formal methodology including HAZOP and FMEA.

· Conduct product risk assessments in accordance with BS EN ISO 12100.

· Document compliance assessments against all against relevant standards and directives.

· Work together with colleagues and external contractors/test houses to ensure products pass all testing requirements.

· Keep up to date with changes to safety legislation which may affect company products.

· Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the company’s products and services.

· Maintain accurate records and files.

ESSENTIAL PERSONAL SKILLS / ATTRIBUTES:

· Degree in or equivalent experience in Engineering or similar.

· 3+ years’ experience in a product safety and compliance role.

· A good standard of written and verbal English with attention to detail.

· Computer literate, with excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word & Excel

· Ability to motivate self and work alone or as part of a team.

· Able to pass a Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check.

DESIRABLE SKILLS / ATTRIBUTES:

· Working knowledge of lifting and handling regulations.

· Experience of working in the Civil Aviation and/or Defence industry.
